After working the food truck with folkfood this summer/fall, we have officially oartnerd with folkfood to employ workers of ALL abilities in their newly opened brick & mortar restaurant! Four individuals have been hired, and more will be needed soon. Please spread the word and support this business! Let them know you support their work with us, too!
Lastly, our workers are paid for their training with Dandelion House funds. Consider donating today, so that we can continue to employ as many people as possible.

Mark your calendars: Jacksonvile ARC is hosting a Running of the Bulls 5K on 12/06/2014 to raise money for programs at ARC serving people with disabilities in Jacksonville. GREAT cause...you should run this race!

We are pleased to announce that we will be providing snacks and drinks free of charge at the after party for this event. We can promise our famous cookies, maybe a few other items as well! So, even if you don't run, register in order to benefit these programs, and just come see us at the after party!

Downtown Jacksonville will host the 2013 "crowd funding" event, OneSpark, this April 17-21. Dandelion House is an official creator in this exciting festival! We are currently seeking volunteers to help with the 5-day presentation. Please contact us for details.

​Local Gourmet Store Lends a Hand

We'll be having an auction later this month/early September to benefit Dandelion House, and our first item up for auction is in! Green Man Gourmet of Avondale has offered a beautiful basket to our auction product list! In the mean time, go check them out for some of the best spices, dipping oils, vegetables, teas, pastas, cheeses, cookware, and more!

And especially, thank you to the Green Men, Pete & Dave, for your generosity in helping our cause! You are welcome to eat with us once we're open ANY time!

Grant Application Accepted
August 6, 2012
Our application for a small business grant worth $500 has been accepted! I will keep everyone posted on the process and whether or not we are chosen as finalists. This grant would help us immensely.

Please continue to pass the website along and encourage friends and family to donate. Donations have come to a halt over the last few weeks, but we are still about $4,000 short of our goal to keep the temporary space. Keeping the space would allow us to run workshops and generate revenue instead of relying solely on donations. It will also allow us to employ 6 individuals with disabilities!

Thanks to your prayers and donations, we are able to move into a temporary space! This location will be used to run workshops and vocational classes until the official opening of Dandelion House. We've raised almost enough for the first month's rent, but please keep the donations coming. Every bit helps!

Progress Update

The business account is up and running! Thank you to Kelly & Joe Wright for the help with choosing a credit union. VyStar was extremely helpful and I look forward to working with them.

This means as of NOW, the PayPal on the DONATE page is up and running. Payments can now be made by anyone at any time, and are directly deposited.

Thank you, again, to all who donated, for making it possible to get our legal paperwork processed so quickly.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

These funds made it possible for me to apply for the LLC and tax ID today, so the ball is officially rolling. I will keep everyone posted once this all goes through and the business account is up and running and ready for additional donations. We are also tweaking our cash projections to make sure we can set an appropriate overall goal for start-up and operation.

Every investor will be honored on our "Get Involved" page.

My genius roommate and I were talking about fundraising ideas, and she mentioned doing a 5K. DUH! I'm interested to see how many people would actually do this. I'm looking into logistics for this type of an event, but if running for Dandelion House is something you'd get excited about, shoot me an email and let me know!

In other news--looking at another house next week on Riverside Ave by the hospital. This house has a hefty price tag, but is ready to go and ADA accessible (huge speed bump with most other properties). Going to try and see if renting is an option. So, say some prayers and shoot some positive energy my way!

Let the funds begin to grow! I have decided to start collecting investments ahead of schedule in order to pay for the LLC, tax ID, legal fees, and some initial advertising. I will be creating a Facebook pledge page to accept investments. I am looking to raise $900 for "step 1" (to include legitimizing the business), and then I will break from fundraising until the LLC goes through, we apply for fundraising with the state, and our business account is up and running. At that time, donating will be simplified through the donation page on this website and will have a secure PayPal set up.
